As you may know, almost all the companies were advised to shut down factories after an outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19) wave 4 in China. It appears that some trade unions are protesting against this measure. Because of this, factories are back to work after a mandatory closure of 3 weeks.

However, the workers will have to follow a strict regime to allow the factories to reopen. They must follow a protocol of self-quarantine, washing hands very often.

They will also have to wear masks. Along with all these general SOPs, The government has also issued back-to-work guidelines for the employees that all employees have to obey.

Back to Work Guidelines for the Employers

The Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention issued new back-to-work guidelines on returning to work after contracting the coronavirus to prevent any further spread of the virus. The primary aim is to voluntarily quarantine infected individuals in their homes when they are not severely ill. 

• The CDC recommends that employees who have symptoms notify their supervisor, stay home from work unless necessary to perform duties and maintain contact with employers.

• The Ministry advises individuals who have contracted mild symptoms of the coronavirus to stay away from crowded areas until their infections have passed.
• Workers with a suspected severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) who are still healthy will be asked to remain at home and monitor their health for two weeks after the onset of symptoms.
• Workers with a mild acute respiratory infection (ARI) who have no signs of pneumonia will be asked to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for seven days after the onset of symptoms.Discover all about 996 work culture in China.
• People who have contracted coronavirus but whose symptoms are not severe should be isolated in their homes for a minimum of five days from the onset of symptoms, because the incubation period is usually between two and 10 days.
• Employees who have contracted the coronavirus should not return to work until their fever has disappeared for at least 48 hours or their normal body temperature is restored. If they need to go back to work before this condition is met, they are advised to wear a surgical mask in public.

People who have contracted the coronavirus are advised not to participate in significant international events, including sports meets and shopping festivals, even if it means losing out financially.

• Employers are also encouraged to provide psychological support to employees who have contracted the coronavirus. If this is not possible, compensation should be offered for any losses incurred as a result of contracting the virus.
• The Ministry of Health advises that people with a fever and a cough should immediately visit their local clinic for diagnosis when they return from holiday. • The above guidelines apply both during an epidemic or when there are isolated cases of coronavirus infection.

These guidelines aim to reduce the risk of possible spread by limiting direct contact between people. The prevention and control of the coronavirus should be primarily based on early detection and isolation, and personal protection, such as wearing a mask and practising good hygiene.
